One of the most appealing aspect about our area is our moderate climate. Mossel Bay, has the world’s second most moderate climate, next to a small town in Hawaii. This makes our winter months..well..not so cold.
Just because we are right on the southern tip of Africa and next to the ocean, doesn’t mean our winters are cold. You can still have a relaxed time visiting our area or if you just want a weekend getaway.
During the summer time, there is so much to do and often people think there is nothing to do in the area during winter. But you would be wrong if that was what you were thinking. Here is a list of things to do in Mossel Bay during winter time.
Whale & Dolphin Watching
Whales visit our bay during winter. They migrate here every year to breed and relax in our calm bay. Our ocean, the Indian ocean, is warm enough for them to do this. From the Mossel Bay harbour, you can embark on whale and dolphin watching boat trips. These trips will also take you past Seal Island, where you will see over 2000 Cape-fur seals. If you are lucky, you might even spot a shark around the island area.
Shark Cage Diving
Shark Cage Diving is ons of the most popular activities to do in Mossel Bay. The local operator will supply you with thick wetsuits to protect you from the slightly cooler water. This experience is amazing and you get to see the worlds most feared predator in it’s natural environment. Dont miss out on this opportunity when visiting our area.
Safari Game Drives
So much have happened in our are the last 8 years. Our guests are privileged to not have to travel all the way to the north to view wild game. We are surrounded by 4 game lodges. Here you can have a proper game drive where you will see some of the big 5. Another popular activity is the elephant experiences. You can feed and walk with the elephants and for those brave enough, you can even ride them. This is a great experience not to be missed. These gentle giants will steal your heart.
Knysna Oyster Festival
